August 9, 2004-- Oplink Communications, Inc. a leading Photonic Foundry and provider of optical networking components, today announced that it has launched the patent-pending Green Platform for its micro-optic product lines, leading the industry in environmental initiatives.
This platform expands Oplink's manufacturing and packaging capabilities to include lead-free products that comply with the RoHS Directive, an international environmental initiative that limits the use of certain materials including Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium in the manufacturing of Electrical and Electronic equipment.
Oplink's Green platform offers numerous technical advances, including high performance and superb thermal stability required for operation in harsh environments. In addition, the Green platform shortens production cycles and meets customer's critical lead-time demands. Its Thin Film Filter based (TFF) products have surpassed full Telcordia GR-1221 and 1209 standards under test conditions suitable for Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP) applications. TFF products are generally available for volume production today.
